In brief

What this company does

We are an externally-managed, agricultural real estate investment trust (“REIT”) that is primarily in the business of owning and leasing farmland, including through lease structures with a variable rent component based on the gross revenues generated from certain farms in lieu of fixed base rent. We currently own 144 farms totaling 98,688 acres across 14 states in the U.S. and 55,532 acre-feet of water assets in California. We are managed by our external adviser, Gladstone Management Corporation (the “Adviser”), and Gladstone Administration, LLC (the “Administrator”), provides administrative services to us. Upon the pricing of our initial public offering (the “IPO”), on January 29, 2013, our shares of common stock began trading on the Nasdaq Global Market (“Nasdaq”) under the symbol “LAND.” Our principal business objective is to maximize stockholder returns through a combination of: (i) monthly cash distributions to our stockholders, which we hope to sustain and increase through long-term growth in cash flows from increased rents (including participation rents); (ii) appreciation of our land; and (iii) capital gains derived from the sale of our properties.

EPS, diluted, dividend per share and shares outstanding are shown without shading, and a vertical line marks the year the share count changed — the series crosses a large, unexplained change in share count, so the years on either side are not on a comparable scale.
