The Licensing division manages and monetizes the Company's global patent portfolio, which covers technologies including operating systems, networking infrastructure, acoustics, messaging, enterprise software, automotive subsystems, cybersecurity, cryptography and wireless communications, and, as of February 28, 2026, the Company owned approximately 6,100 worldwide patents and applications. It was founded in 1984. It was incorporated under the Business Corporations Act (Ontario) and has amalgamated with several of its wholly-owned subsidiaries, the last occurring through the filing of articles of amalgamation on November 4, 2013.
