In brief

What this company does

Honda makes motorcycles, automobiles and power products, and provides financial services. In Japan those products reach buyers through domestic sales subsidiaries and independent retail dealers, and in overseas markets through principal foreign sales subsidiaries that distribute to local wholesalers and retail dealers. The motorcycle lineup consists of sports, business and commuter models, and the company also produces off-road vehicles, among them all-terrain vehicles and side-by-sides. In the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, approximately 47% of its automobile units, including sales under the Acura Brand, were sold on a group basis in North America, followed by 27% in Asia and 18% in Japan. Its principal automobile products are the ACCORD, CITY, CIVIC and FIT passenger car series, the CR-V, FREED, HR-V, ODYSSEY, PASSPORT, PILOT and VEZEL light trucks and the N-BOX mini vehicle. Financial services are offered to customers and dealers through finance subsidiaries in countries including Japan, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Brazil and Thailand, and cover retail lending, leasing to customers and other services such as wholesale financing to dealers. Its power products include general purpose engines, generators, water pumps, lawn mowers, brush cutters and tillers. Mass production of motorcycles began in 1949 with the Dream D-Type, followed by other models such as the Benly and the Cub F-Type.
