Kennametal operates in two segments: Metal Cutting and Infrastructure. The Metal Cutting segment manufactures tooling and metal cutting products and services, offering standard and custom metal cutting solutions to end markets including General Engineering, Transportation, Aerospace & Defense and Energy. The Company was founded based on a tungsten carbide technology breakthrough in 1938 and was incorporated in Pennsylvania in 1943 as a manufacturer of tungsten carbide metal cutting tooling.
