Its top five commercial distributors in the United States accounted for a total of 46% of its net sales for the fiscal year ended April 30, 2026. Smith & Wesson was founded in 1852 by Horace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson. In 2020, in preparation for the spin-off of its outdoor products and accessories business, completed on August 24, 2020, it changed its name to Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc.
