In brief

What this company does

Braskem produces and sells chemicals and plastics made from fossil, renewable and recycled raw materials, which its customers transform in more than 70 countries into applications such as food packaging, household furniture, industrial and automotive components, and paints and coatings. It operates in the first and second generations of the petrochemical industry, with integrated operations in Brazil and Mexico, while its operations in the United States and Europe are supplied with second-generation raw material by outside suppliers. Its plants carry a total installed capacity of 20,325 kton per year. At the close of 2025 the business was organized into three reportable segments, corresponding to its principal production processes, products and services. The Brazil Segment gathers 28 industrial units within four petrochemical complexes that use naphtha, ethane and propane, refinery off gas and ethanol as feedstock to make ethylene, propylene and green ethylene, which in turn feed thermoplastic resins or are sold to third parties. Polypropylene production and sale in the United States and Europe fall under the United States and Europe Segment, carried out through the subsidiaries Braskem America and Braskem Netherlands B.V. The Mexico Segment takes in polyethylene production and sale in Mexico, conducted through the subsidiary Braskem Idesa. The company itself dates from August 2002, when Copene merged with five other companies.

EPS, diluted, dividend per share and shares outstanding are shown without shading, and a vertical line marks the year the share count changed — the series crosses a large, unexplained change in share count, so the years on either side are not on a comparable scale.
