As of December 31, 2025, it employed approximately 4,560 employees in 26 countries spread across six continents. Its business originated from Cantor, and Cantor started the company's wholesale intermediary brokerage operations in 1972. In August 2004, Cantor announced the reorganization and separation of its inter-dealer Voice and Hybrid brokerage businesses into a subsidiary named BGC.
