Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. supplies aggregates (crushed stone, sand and gravel) through its network of approximately 400 quarries, mines and distribution yards in 28 states, Canada and The Bahamas. As of December 31, 2025, it also provides other building materials, namely cement, ready mixed concrete, asphalt and paving services, in targeted markets where it has a notable aggregates position. In 2025, aggregates generated 88% of the Company's total reportable segment gross profit. As of January 31, 2026, the Company had approximately 9,600 employees, of which approximately 7,100 were hourly employees and approximately 2,500 were salaried employees. For continuing operations, the Company conducts its Building Materials business through two reportable segments, organized by geography: the East Group and the West Group. Its Specialties business is reported as a separate segment and includes its magnesia-based products and dolomitic lime businesses. The East Group provides aggregates and asphalt products, while the West Group provides aggregates, ready mixed concrete, asphalt and paving services. The Company was formed in 1993 as a North Carolina corporation to succeed the operations of the materials group of the organization that is now known as Lockheed Martin Corporation.
