What this company does

NAPCO manufactures and designs high-tech electronic security devices and cellular communication services for intrusion and fire alarm systems, and provides school safety solutions, offering security products that encompass access control systems, door-locking products, intrusion and fire alarm systems, and video surveillance products. In 2012, it began to generate monthly recurring service revenue by providing secure cellular and cloud access for intrusion and fire alarm communicators and other smart security devices, provided to customers on a month-to-month basis in exchange for a monthly fee. For school security, it offers standalone LocDown locks operated by a teacher, a series of Networx standalone wireless locks that communicate with central controls, or enterprise-class access control with cellular connectivity that allows the head of security to lock down all or part of a campus, including dorm rooms, classrooms and administrative offices, from a centralized office. Its manufacturing facility in the Dominican Republic manufactures over 90% of its products, while it performs its managerial and administrative activities, including research and development, design, sales administration, technical services, finance, procurement, manufacturing control, warehousing, and shipping operations, at its 100,000-square-foot headquarters in Amityville, New York. As of June 30, 2025, the company had 1,061 full-time employees, of whom 290 were located in the United States and 771 were located at its manufacturing facility in the Dominican Republic. The company currently has approximately 1,800 active customers made up of distributors, installing dealers and wholesalers who purchase its products directly, as well as many more who purchase its products from these distributors. The company was founded in 1969 and incorporated as NAPCO Security Systems, Inc. in December 1971 in the State of Delaware, changing its name to NAPCO Security Technologies, Inc. in December 2008.
