In brief

What this company does

Amgen discovers, develops, manufactures and delivers medicines. The company has a presence in approximately 100 countries worldwide. It operates in one operating segment, human therapeutics. Its sales and marketing forces are concentrated in the United States and Europe. It also commercializes and markets its products in other geographic territories, including Japan, China and other parts of Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, using its own affiliates, acquiring existing third-party businesses or product rights, or collaborating with third parties. In the United States substantially all of its sales are to pharmaceutical wholesale distributors, which is the principal means of distributing its products to healthcare providers. Product sales to three wholesalers, McKesson Corporation, Cencora, Inc. and Cardinal Health, Inc., each individually accounted for more than 10% of total revenues in 2025. Amgen was incorporated in California in 1980 and became a Delaware corporation in 1987.

Written from the business description in AMGEN INC's annual report to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, filed 13 February 2026. Every sentence was checked against that document before publication.
