In brief

What this company does

Exelixis, Inc. has produced four marketed pharmaceutical products, two of which are formulations of its molecule cabozantinib. Cabozantinib has been approved by the FDA and in 68 other countries as CABOMETYX (cabozantinib) tablets for advanced renal cell carcinoma, previously treated hepatocellular carcinoma, previously treated differentiated thyroid cancer, and previously treated pancreatic and extra-pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, and as COMETRIQ (cabozantinib) capsules for progressive, metastatic medullary thyroid cancer. Its commercial products, CABOMETYX and COMETRIQ, are sold initially through wholesale distribution and specialty pharmacy channels and then, where applicable, resold to hospitals and other organizations that provide them to patients. Sales related to cabozantinib account for the majority of its revenues. As of December 31, 2025, it had 1,077 employees, a 6.10% decrease in its employee workforce compared with December 31, 2024. It was incorporated in Delaware in November 1994 as Exelixis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and changed its name to Exelixis, Inc. in February 2000.
