As of March 31, 2026, it had approximately 2,800 employees, of which approximately 800 were salaried and approximately 2,000 were hourly. Its business is organized into two sectors: Heavy Materials, which includes the Cement and Concrete and Aggregates segments, and Light Materials, which includes the Gypsum Wallboard and Recycled Paperboard segments. It operates eight cement plants and two slag grinding facilities, one cement plant and one slag grinding facility through a joint venture, with clinker capacity of approximately 6.7 million tons, approximately 6% of total U.S. clinker capacity. In the Concrete and Aggregates segment, it sells readymix concrete, delivered from batch plants primarily by company-owned trucks, and sells aggregates to building contractors and other customers, distributed from its plants by common carriers and customer pickup. Three customers collectively accounted for approximately 64% of its Gypsum Wallboard segment sales during fiscal 2026. The Company was founded in 1963 as a subsidiary of Centex Corporation, and operated as a public company under the name Centex Construction Products, Inc. from April 19, 1994, to January 30, 2004, when Centex completed a tax-free distribution of its shares to its shareholders and the Company was renamed Eagle Materials Inc.
