Its Precision Diagnostics category includes DEFINITY, an injectable ultrasound enhancing agent with perflutren-containing lipid microspheres used in echocardiography exams, and Neuraceq, an F-18 labeled PET imaging agent that binds selectively to beta-amyloid plaques in the brain and was approved by the FDA in 2014. Founded in 1956 as New England Nuclear Corporation, its medical imaging diagnostic business was purchased by E.I. du Pont de Nemours and Company in 1981 and was subsequently acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb as part of its acquisition of DuPont Pharmaceuticals in 2001.
