What this company does

The Utility generates electricity and provides electric transmission and distribution service throughout its service area in northern and central California to residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural customers. Alongside its electric business, the Utility provides natural gas transportation service to “core” customers, meaning small commercial and residential customers, and to “non-core” customers, meaning industrial, large commercial, and natural gas-fired electric generation customers, connected to its gas system. As of December 31, 2025, the Utility had approximately 29,000 regular employees. In 2025, the Utility's estimated total net deliveries of electricity to retail customers were 24,052 GWh. By the same date, the Utility's natural gas system included approximately 45,400 miles of distribution pipelines and approximately 5,500 miles of backbone and local transmission pipelines. PG&E Corporation, the Utility's parent holding company, was incorporated in California in 1995. Pacific Gas and Electric Company, the Utility, was incorporated in California in 1905, and PG&E Corporation became its holding company in 1997.
