In brief

What this company does

Oil-Dri develops, manufactures and markets sorbent products made principally from hydrated aluminosilicate minerals, chiefly calcium bentonite, attapulgite and diatomaceous shale. It surface mines its clay on leased or owned land near manufacturing facilities in Mississippi, Georgia, Illinois and California. Proven mineral reserves as of July 31, 2025 were estimated at approximately 92.3 million tons and probable mineral reserves at approximately 115.3 million tons, a total of 207.6 million tons. As of July 31, 2025, it had approximately 928 employees globally, 893 of them based in the U.S. and 35 located internationally. The company has two reportable operating segments drawn from its two major customer groups, the Retail and Wholesale Products Group and the Business to Business Products Group. Its cat litter line covers two types of mineral-based products, scoopable and coarse non-clumping litters, both with absorbent and odor controlling characteristics. Adsorbent products for bleaching, purification and filtration are used by edible oil processors and by refiners of renewable diesel, jet fuel and other petroleum-based products. Oil-Dri Corporation of America was incorporated in Delaware in 1969 as the successor to an Illinois corporation incorporated in 1946, itself the successor to a partnership that commenced business in 1941.
