At that date it operated 365 retail automotive franchised dealerships, 148 of them in the United States and 217 outside the United States, principally in the United Kingdom. The company also operates Premier Truck Group, a heavy- and medium-duty retail truck dealership group offering primarily Freightliner and Western Star trucks across 10 U.S. states and the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Manitoba. Penske Australia is the exclusive importer and distributor of Western Star heavy-duty trucks, MAN trucks and buses and Dennis Eagle refuse collection vehicles, together with associated parts, across Australia, New Zealand and portions of the Pacific. It holds a 28.9% ownership interest in Penske Truck Leasing Co., L.P., which it accounts for under the equity method. The company incorporated in the state of Delaware in 1990 and began dealership operations in October 1992.
